My name is Patrick Fitzgerald and I’m Apprenticeships Co-ordinator of Hertfordshire PASS and WorkABILITY. I’m one of three staff members who graduated from their apprenticeships in March 2011, along with Andrew Bird and Katie Fraser. My main responsibility is running the “10 PASS Ten” challenge, which is the process by which we place young disabled people and mentors with local organisations for apprenticeship projects, and I also help Katie to run the Summer Job Forum. I’m passionate about my job and thoroughly enjoy it, as it gives me the opportunity, as a young disabled person, to enable others like me to overcome similar barriers to those that I broke down myself.
